![]() In this one i didnt like the way lena was acting. In pandemonium it was yes cheating on alex but it was reality and then at last alex comes and my breath taken…. Normally i dont like such books where one dies but this book had part 2 n i could not wait to read it. ![]() n i was also feeling pain and those sad songs automatically playing in my mind. The way oliver described the ending scene i could not stop thinking about it. When i completed reading deliirium, i was so much moved…. Because there are a million different ways Oliver could go about with her ending maybe she wanted to give her audience freedom, the choice of imagination, instead of trapping them inside her own choice of the ending. Will bombing up Portland lead freedom fighters to take up other parts of US as well, or will it simply die out, taken control again by other cities? Even if they ARE able to take control of US, will it be any different from the corrupt leaders before them (Some of you may think back to what happened in Divergent trilogy) ? There are so many questions left unanswered, but unanswered for our imagination. What I’m trying to say is, Oliver made such an open ending about what would eventually happen with the government and the freedom fighters because I don’t think she knows either, and even if she has the slightest speculation, there are so many ways different people can interpret it. I think there were some chaos in Requiem as well, when people were fighting over a can of tuna in Water_?_. At this point, it really comes down to choice, and I, as well as most people, choose freedom and hunger, rather than having no choice but plenty of food. In reality, these rebels end up with a chaos in their hands as well, and many realize that there is no difference, whether it be the rebels or the corrupt leaders, that people will suffer either way. There are so many novels about a utopian society or a strictly government controlled society, in which rebels are trying to overthrow the corrupt leaders. (:īut the thing with dystopian novels is that, it’s really hard to create a “happy” ending. When I found out the ending is open, I was overjoyed! In all honesty, it is clear that Oliver intended her readers to expect Lena to end up with Alex, so it is not really that “open”. I swore to myself that I would not read Requiem, but I just COULD NOT STOP by the time I got to the end of Pandemonium… that last word, “Alex”. That was why I thought the Delirium series would end as a tragedy, and would break my heart (just as Divergent series did). Because I don’t want to know the EXACT ending, all I found out about Requiem prior to reading it was that a lot of people were disappointed in the ending. It’s a habit of mine – for every book, I would search up whether it would be a happy or sad ending so that I can mentally prepare myself. I am excited to read what you think!īefore I read any book, I actually spoil myself slightly. As this is the final book you can share openly here about all three books and how it all ends. I know I have more to discuss just cant think of it now so please, share your thoughts openly on this book. (It was my Titanic moment where Rose gets out of the life boat and hurried her way back to Jack and as they cry and hold one another….) Oh. Maybe in this book I didn’t need to know everything and how it panned out… maybe I was just happy that the one thing happened that I wanted to happen… Lena and Alex found their way back to one another. Love love love that Hana is back in this book and love love love hearing her side of what is happening back in Portland and how the “others” are handling what is happening with the Wilds and the Invalids.Īnd then I know people are mad about all the unsaid things all the openness in the end which actually for some reason did not bug me so much. My other little complaint was that Lena was not as likable in this book… she annoyed me with her talks with Alex and then running to Julian’s arms. Oh come on! How could you not be? Alex – although somewhat of an ass in the beginning you knew (oh YOU KNEW!) that he was just covering hurt feelings for Lena moving on…. Throughout this whole book I was team Alex. that sense of who will be picked, who will be tossed aside….ĪND I have to admit, through much discussion in my spoiler page for Pandemonium, where I proudly proclaimed I was Team Julian and you all ripped my head off…. ![]() ![]() Even if the love triangle has been done to death… I think there is still some excitement to it…. I actually found a lot that I liked about the book. Do not proceed if you have not read this book. This page is a SPOILER PAGE for the book Requiem by Lauren Oliver. ![]()
